STEPS: 39,900  CUMULATIVE STEPS: 76,875

TIME WALKING: 7 HOURS  CUMULATIVE TIME WALKING: 15 HOUR

Before we begin the day, I have to mention SNORING. I will be sleeping in hostels (or albergues as they call them over here) where many people sleep in the same room in bunk beds. Last night I was in room with 3 other people. I was in the lower bunk and above me was an Olympic Snorer. This guy was putting out around 110 decibels. I did have some super industrial strength ear plugs and they helped, but he was soooo loud the whole bunk bed vibrated. I didn’t get the best sleep. However, I was amazed that I could actually get out of bed. My muscles weren’t sore!

After a quick breakfast we were off. Here was the sky… pretty amazing

As you leave the hostel, there is a famous road sign… (FYI 790 km is 491 miles)

Here is a little town about 30 minutes into the hike. Lots of pilgrims.

A little later, we entered an area known for having wild dogs. The sign below states this in both Spanish (upper) and Basque (lower)

GOOD NEWS! There were no wild dogs… but we saw a lot of horses.

The scenery was completely different from yesterday. We spent most of the time in fields and woods… no mountains.

Here are a few more shots along the way:

You can do the Camino in many different ways – walking, bike, horse and here this guy is walking with a cart rather than a backpack.

After about 7 hours, we were home. Here are few shots of our hostel:

Here is what our room looked like. It was very nice!

We (me, Scott & Helena… we never saw Jordan, hope she not sitting in a UFO next to Elvis 🙂 ) had a lovely home cooked meal in the hostel with some other pilgrims:

Houston – We Have A Problem!

I bought 3 new pair of high-tech under pants for the Camino. When I received them I tried on a pair and they were perfect. So I packed the 3 pairs in my backpack. This morning I put on another pair (since the first pair were dirty) and they were REALLY tight. I checked the size… they were size SMALL!

I walked 18 miles in a thong 🙂 today NOT FUN!!!!!

Tomorrow we will be in Pamplona where I hope I can buy some new underwear.

We all crashed at 10pm.

Today’s Thoughts:

  • Today was another long day, but we made it!
  • People on the walk are very friendly. Everyone says “Buen Camino” (good Camino in Spanish)
  • Scott and Helena are good traveling partners. We walk at the same pace and have shared lots of stories.

Cheers,

  1. Wonderful photos. Use your trekking pole to gently nudge the snorer above. Gently! And you learned on day one a camino miracle. You go to bed feeling sooo sore. You wake up like new!
