Today was a perfect day to hike. Sunny, cool, slight wind and most importantly no rain 🙂
Here are a few shots from San Juan as I left @ 7:15am.
It was a easy walk with only 1 big hill to climb. A few shots along the way…
UFO landing site along the Camino… who would have thunk it???
Along the Camino you will find little cafes and hostels.
Is it really that far to Santiago 😦
I passed thru a town called Atapuerca where they found hominins which are the earliest genetic evidence of Neanderthals to date (~450,000 years old)
A few more shots along the way…
Like I said, it was a beautiful day to hike.
Strange… 13 caterpillars in a conga line 🙂
Notice the church bell is still there.
This is how I feel… sometimes 🙂
AWESOME shrubbery.
At the top of the small mountain was a large cross. Pilgrims lay things here.
Here is TEAM NORWAY. Two sisters and their best friend from childhood.
I made it to Burgos around 2pm. It is a big town (population ~200,000). A few shots from the city.
Lots of nice squares with outdoor cafes… how civilized.
This is a bachelor(ette) party.
I feel like I’m back home in Wisconsin 🙂
So here are my choices for dinner. I’m thinking “Pig snout”… NOT!!!! I had the sirloin.
I’m spending 2 nights here. I wanted to take a rest day ~10 days into the trip. I got a nice hotel in downtown for 50 euros a night.
Today’s Thoughts
- Since I taking a rest day, this means most of the people I have seeing for the past 12 days will be a day ahead. So starting on Monday, I will be meeting a bunch of new pilgrims on the road.
- MAN, do they eat late in Spain. I could get a dinner before 7:30pm.
- Saturday night was rocking in Burgos.
Cheers,
-jj
