I’m not going to sugarcoat it… today SUCKED!
Here is what it looked like out my window when I woke up:
It was pouring rain (not a drizzle) and a balmy 47 degrees 😦
THE GOOD NEWS!
Agnes & Sharona decided to buy a truckload of food yesterday for breakfast today. Here they are cooking away.
Here is what I had for breakfast. It was AWESOME & the best breakfast I have had on the Camino! (FYI… I washed the dishes after our feast)
If the rain weren’t bad enough, today’s hike also included the longest stretch on the Camino without food, water, shelter… it was 12 miles of nothing (see above diagram).
Because of the weather conditions, I didn’t get many shots. Here the few that I got.
There was mud and puddles everywhere. Not much fun hiking today.
Damn the rain… Here is my SandwichCam and where I had lunch 🙂
Finally, after hiking for 5 hours in a steady rain, it stopped and the last hour included a little bit of sunshine.
- Today was a test of will. To be honest, it took a lot to step outside and start hiking for 15 miles in the rain.
- When I arrived in Ledigos, I stopped at the first hostel and it was a dump 😦 I was really depressed after walking all day in the rain and having to stay in a dump. I decided to hike to the next town about 30 minutes down the path. Luckily, I found another hostel at the other end of town and it was AWESOME. It was a new hostel, nice beds, showers, restaurant… It was a great way to end a crappy day 🙂
- Eating a good breakfast really helped keep my energy/spirits up today. I think I try getting a proper breakfast everyday (when available)
